Spinal Dance Vol: 1 kicks off the right way with SWALLOW’s twisted, disjointed dancehall track that jerks frantically around the place, which leads nicely into KEPPEL’s impeccably produced ‘Funda’ which submerses the listener into the deep, dark dub unknown. OROKU SAKI then takes your hand through a slow-moving, broken down hip-hop type beat with beautifully crafted sonic landscapes. The fourth track you’ll find yourself two-steppin’ with this huge UKG heater from the man with a plan YASUKE.

Bristol based, ST. IVES brings you back down with this smooth ambient track that will take you to the tranquil gardens of the Ryoan-ji Temple. REECHARD’s agitated, freaked out EE puts a whole new spin on weirdcore, with its jumpy oscillated synths and rambling beats. MUTE then comes in flying, serving up some sparse breaks that leave your body wanting more and more.

DJ EXCEL’s ambient piece is an ode to mediation and its 9 minutes of pure auditory bliss. A righteously constructed dub techno track from HAL follows – one for the mighty snake charmers. A droning, jjunglist riddim comes in from SPOY, which then leads into MOOTNEY’s drum focused, Engelblau which dips and dives from wondering glacial synth chords to arpeggiated acid-esq hooks.

Manchester’s REZKA presents you with spaced-out dub track with a constant thumping dancehall beat providing the groundwork. To end this compilation, IAMONE leaves the listener with an ambient track that progressively gets more sonically intense and could be a part of the soundtrack in the next Blade Runner.

Tracks assembled by Mute Artefact. Big love to all the artists involved. You make the world a better place with your beautifully crafted sounds. We are forever grateful to have you onboard the MA train.
